Susanne Kaufmann grew up in the Bregenzerwald, a picturesque valley nestled in the Austrian Alps and a destination sought out for its beauty and restorative powers during all four seasons of the year. As a little girl, she learned from her grandmother about all the beauty and wellness power to be found in the natural flora and fauna that were growing in abundance around her.

When Susanne joined the family firm in the 1990s one of her first projects was to develop a spa where she could offer clients her own signature beauty treatments. For Susanne, to create a luxurious wellness space that was in harmony with the surrounding nature, required a truly holistic approach incorporating anti-aging treatments, TCM, exercise and a dietary focus. The spa, with its white rooms and glass partitions was designed by her brother Oskar Leo Kaufmann, to ensure guests felt connected to the calmness and beauty of the outdoors throughout their visit.

Originally, the range of products, first launched in 2003, was intended only for spa use at the hotel. But soon guests asked to buy it so they could take it home with them, cult boutiques clamoured to stock it, and very quickly this niche brand was a global beauty phenomenon.
When it comes to product development, Susanne Kaufmann and her team do not believe in making compromises. Whether it’s organic credentials, dedication to create only the highest quality, effective skincare to positively improve skin’s potential, the focus on all things natural and environmental safe, the search for the latest in technology, or the eco-aware production, everything must meet the brand’s exact standards before it reaches the client.
Combining the best of scientific research with the most powerful active ingredients found in nature, Susanne Kaufmann takes a truly modern approach to product creation. The use of cold-press extraction allows them to extract ever more potent active ingredients from the plant world without losing any of their strength. Each and every product created is still overseen by Susanne Kaufmann herself, who regularly visits the nearby factory to ensure the highest standards are always met.
