The inspiration for the X perfumes came from Clive Christian feeling great about producing fabulous things. Clive was the novice who had gained the confidence to play with his creativity as a fragrance designer. He was presented with the formulae which he loved, but wondered what it would be like if it were literally turned on its head, combining natural ingredients in a complicated, multifaceted way. The perfumer said it would be hard to do, but insisted. The result is a fragrance which is sexy, very sexy. It says “I’ve got it”; it is “as sexy as hell, like someone slipping into a Bentley, oozing power and success”. X is the fragrance for those with nothing to prove; those who wear it, have it; they have the X factor.
