Everything changed for Albert Fouquet on a winter night in 1936 in Megève. Fouquet had traveled to this emerging ski resort, a meeting place for European aristocracy, to attend a dinner hosted by his friend Nicolás. Passionate about travel and with a special talent for creating perfumes, Albert crafted unique fragrances or his personal use. These had become highly coveted within his social circle, turning into exceptional gifts with which he surprised his aristocratic friends on special occasions. But that magical night in Megève, someone
completely transformed Fouquet’s life: Annicke, a young Austrian woman, daughter of a banker and a Hungarian noblewoman. Her striking beauty, innate elegance, and captivating personality immediately captivated him. As they danced and talked by the fire, Albert knew he had met someone truly extraordinary. The conversation, the dancing, and the warmth of the fireplace that winter night were forever etched in Fouquet’s memory, along with the unforgettable image of Annicke. Undoubtedly, that night he had met the most fascinating woman any man could dream of.
That night turned into dawn, and with the first light of day, Albert departed for Paris. Before leaving, he left Annicke a handwritten note, expressing his wish to see her again soon.
Months passed, and letters and meetings between Albert and Annicke followed. Vienna, and specifically the magnificent Belvedere Palace, became the epicenter of their growing connection and a source of inspiration for Albert’s new creation. During a special date, Albert organized an elegant private dinner in one of the palace’s rooms, adorned with fresh flowers and
candelabras. During the dinner, he gave Annicke a small bottle of the perfume Belvedere, with a personalized label that read: “To my eternal muse.” Touched, she responded with a quiet
promise: “Let’s always seek new places and scents to inspire us.”
